2010 Tiger Meet – Volkel AB

The 2010 NATO Tiger Meet was hosted by 313 Squadron, the Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16 unit based at Volkel AB. This meet was the first time the yearly gathering of air squadrons with the Tiger mascot was hostedby 313 Squadron. During the eight-day event, 715 missions were planned with 644 missions actually flown. Despite reduced attendance because of budget constraints or operational commitments, more than fifty aircraft participated, including F-16s, Mirage 2000s, JAS-39s, Tornados, Saab 105s, as well as Hind and AB212 helicopters. The Hellenic Air Force and the Polish Air Force sent observers from their F-16 tiger squadrons. Both units are committed to attend in the full flying exercise next year. F-16 pilot from the Belgian Air Force 31st squadron gives a thumbs up during the 2010 NATO Tiger Meet.The Belgian Air Force 31st squadron converted from the F-104G Starfighter to the F-16 in 1982. The squadron is part of the 10th Wing. It has become one of the more famous squadrons in the BAF because of its Tiger mascot, often portrayed in special paint schemes. The 31st was a founding member of the NATO Tiger Association.
